Check the pieces before comparing the total
Write out every piece you expect to receive. A duvet cover on its own, a duvet cover with two pillowcases, and a four-piece bedding set are different orders. A styled photograph may also show a sheet, inserts or decorative pillows that are not included.
- Duvet cover only: check the cover size and quantity; do not assume an insert or pillowcases are included.
- Cover plus two pillowcases: confirm the size of both cases as well as the cover.
- Four-piece set: check the named fourth piece and its dimensions. Do not assume it is a flat sheet or a fitted sheet from the piece count alone.
Separate your measurements from the finished dimensions
For a fitted sheet, supply the mattress width, length and total depth with the topper and protector in place. For a duvet cover or pillowcase, give the insert measurements. Label every number with cm or inches and identify which item it belongs to.
The measurements of your bed are not a sewing pattern. Ask the maker to confirm the finished dimensions and any allowance for fit or laundering. Do not add a guessed percentage yourself. If the quote contains a different number from your request, resolve the difference before payment.
Record the fabric and colour precisely
Save the product link or fabric option discussed in the email. Confirm whether the quote is for pure linen or a named blend, and that the same choice applies to each piece. If a fabric weight or dye method matters to you, ask for confirmation for that option rather than inferring it from price.
For a coordinated order, list the colour beside every item. For striped fabric, ask about stripe direction and any visible joining seam if these details matter to the design. Online photographs are useful for choosing a palette, but lighting and screens can change how a shade appears.
Review the delivery total and the dates
Check that the quote uses your intended delivery country and address. Ask which currency is shown, whether shipping is included, and how any destination taxes or import charges are handled. An item subtotal is not necessarily the amount needed to get the order to your door.
Separate the estimated making time from the estimated transit time. If you need the bedding for a move or a guest arrival, state the date and ask whether the proposed schedule is suitable. Read the applicable custom-order change and return terms before confirming.
A final message you can send
Please confirm the item names and quantities, finished sizes and units, fabric and colour for each piece, and the total in the stated currency. Please also confirm shipping, estimated dispatch and delivery timing, and the terms for changes to this custom order. These are the measurements of my mattress and inserts: [add your measurements].
