Your duvet is comfortable. The cover is the problem: a strip of empty fabric at the bottom, corners that never line up, or an insert that bunches as soon as you make the bed.
SCANDALINEN makes custom size linen duvet covers in our Hanoi workshop, with no minimum order. Send the width and length of your duvet insert, your preferred fabric and colour, and your delivery details. We confirm the specifications and total price before you pay. Allow about 3–4 weeks from order to receipt.
Measure the duvet, not the bed
A duvet cover needs to fit the insert inside it. Mattress dimensions will not tell us that size, and the words “queen” or “king” are not enough: size labels vary between countries and brands.
- Take the duvet out of its cover and lay it flat without stretching it.
- Measure from edge to edge across the width, then along the length.
- Check the sewn-in size label. If it differs from your measurement, send both figures and tell us which is which.
- Use one unit throughout: centimetres or inches.
If an old cover fits exactly as you like, you can also measure it flat, seam to seam. Label those numbers as finished cover measurements, so we do not mistake them for the insert size. Tell us whether the old cover has been washed.
Which details should you include?
Start with the insert measurements, then tell us what you want to keep or change. Do you want a cover on its own, or pillowcases too? Is there a particular opening or fastening you prefer? Does your insert have corner loops? We will confirm which details are available before agreeing the order.
If you want extra overhang at the sides of the bed, first check whether the insert itself is wide enough. Making an empty cover wider does not make the duvet inside it wider. A larger insert may be the better starting point.
French linen or a linen blend?
Browse our French linen bedding for fabric and colour ideas. If you prefer a blend, look through the bamboo linen collection and send the product link with your request. A blend is a different fabric from 100% linen; we will specify the chosen fabric in your quote.
Colour can look different on a phone and in daylight. If you are trying to match bedding you already own, include its product name or original order details. We will check the available fabric rather than promise an exact match from a screen image.

What happens after you send the measurements?
We review the size, fabric, colour and any construction details, then email the quote. There is no separate design fee; the finished piece is priced according to the fabric, size and details. Check the written specification before paying, especially if you supplied both an insert size and an old cover size.

Questions about custom duvet covers
Can I order just one cover?
Yes. There is no minimum order for custom bedding; you do not need to buy a complete set.
Should I add extra centimetres to the insert size?
Send the actual measurements. Tell us how you want the cover to fit, and we will confirm the finished size rather than ask you to guess an allowance.
Can I get matching pillowcases in a different size?
Yes, include each pillow size and the quantity in your request. A duvet size does not determine the pillowcase size.
