SCANDALINEN stonewashed French linen may shrink a further 2–5%. Washing and drying conditions affect the result. Pre-washing does not mean a piece can never shrink again, so follow the care label and confirm the intended washed fit when ordering a close-fitting size.
Measure the item it needs to fit
For a fitted sheet, measure your mattress width, length and full depth, including a topper. Elastic helps hold the sheet in place, but it does not make every pocket depth suitable for every mattress. Compare all three measurements with the listing.
For a duvet cover, measure the insert rather than the mattress. For a pillowcase, measure the pillow. A size name such as Queen or King is not enough when brands or countries use different dimensions.
Check what the listed dimensions mean
Before ordering, ask whether the dimensions refer to the intended washed size and how the shrinkage allowance is handled. Do not automatically add a percentage yourself: that can duplicate an allowance already included in the cutting measurements.

How much is 2–5%?
On a 200 cm length, 2% is 4 cm and 5% is 10 cm. This illustrates the scale of the allowance; it does not predict exactly how a particular piece will change or mean that you should add those amounts to your order. A fitted sheet and an oversized flat sheet have different fit requirements.
Follow the care label, including drying
Wash and dry the bedding as directed, then check the fit. Do not use extra heat to force an oversized piece to fit. If a sheet or cover does not fit as expected after the recommended wash, keep its label and send us the order details, measurements and photographs so we can check it with you.
We do not promise that shrinkage happens only once or that stretching a shrunken piece will restore its original dimensions. Ask for advice before attempting a treatment that is not on the care label.
French linen and bamboo-linen are different fabrics

Questions before buying
Should I order one size larger?
Do not size up by name alone. Compare the actual dimensions and confirm the intended fit. A deeper mattress may need a deeper fitted-sheet pocket, rather than a different width and length.
Can pre-washed linen still shrink?
Yes. Our stonewashed French linen may shrink a further 2–5%. Care conditions and the particular piece matter.
Does a flat sheet have to fit tightly?
No. Choose enough width and length for the tuck and drape you prefer, taking the intended washed dimensions into account.
