For two guest beds in different sizes, create a separate bedding list for each bed before choosing matching colours. Measure both mattresses, both duvet inserts and every pillow type. Coordinate the look through fabric and colour; choose dimensions individually so each piece fits the bed it is intended for.
This is especially useful when a guest room has an older double bed and a newer single, or when two similar-looking beds use different duvets. Ordering two identical sets can leave you with attractive pieces that cannot be swapped between the beds.
Give each bed a name on your order list
Use simple labels such as “Window bed” and “Door bed”, or “Guest room A” and “Guest room B”. Put that label beside every measurement. Keep units consistent; if an insert label gives inches, record that explicitly rather than leaving an unlabelled number.
| Record for each bed | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Mattress width, length and total depth | A fitted sheet needs the dimensions of the mattress and any topper beneath it. |
| Duvet insert width and length | The cover fits the insert, not the bed’s name. |
| Pillow dimensions and quantity | Two beds may use different pillow shapes or different numbers of pillows. |
| Pieces already owned and being kept | You can order what is missing instead of replacing useful bedding. |
Decide which pieces can genuinely be shared
Compare the actual measurements. If the two beds use identical duvet inserts, the same cover size may work for both even when their mattresses differ. Their fitted sheets still need to match their respective mattress dimensions. Pillowcases are interchangeable only when they suit the pillows on both beds.
Do not rely on “single”, “double” or “queen” alone, especially if bedding was bought in different countries or from different brands. If a bed has a topper, our fitted-sheet guide for toppers and protectors explains which layers to include in the depth measurement.

Coordinate the room with a simple fabric plan
Choose one main colour or stripe, then decide whether both beds should match or use related colours. For example, the same stripe on both duvet covers can give a consistent look while the sheets are chosen for each mattress. This is a styling approach, not a requirement to buy a complete matching set.
Keep the product or fabric link beside each item on the list. If you want the same fabric across different sizes, confirm availability for all pieces together. A colour name alone does not establish that two options use the same material or dye batch. For later additions, read our guide to matching linen bedding across separate orders.
Order spares by size, not by the number of beds
Think about what happens when both beds need changing. If the fitted sheets differ, a spare for the smaller bed may not help with the larger one. Decide which pieces you need available while laundry is washing and drying, then add those quantities to the correct bed’s list.
Keep storage simple: group each bed’s clean pieces together or label the shelf with the bed name and dimensions. If you use colour to distinguish sizes, write that choice down before ordering. This can make it easier for another person in the household to make the right bed.

A clear request for two different beds
Copy this structure for each bed, replacing the brackets with your details:
Bed A: [name]. Mattress: [width × length × total depth, units]. Duvet insert: [width × length]. Pillows: [dimensions and number]. Pieces wanted: [item and quantity]. Fabric and colour: [product link or option]. Spare pieces: [item, size and quantity].
Bed B: [repeat the same details]. Delivery country and date needed: [details]. Please confirm the itemised sizes, quantities and total before I order.
SCANDALINEN’s Hanoi workshop can review a custom size request when listed options do not suit your measurements. Send both beds in the same request, with their names clearly separated. We confirm the details and price by email before you order.
Common ordering questions
Should I buy two four-piece sets?
Only if the contents and all their dimensions suit both beds. Read each set’s piece list. A duvet cover alone, a cover with two pillowcases and a four-piece set are different configurations.
Can I keep the existing sheets?
Yes. If they fit and you want to keep them, choose only the covers or cases you need. Browse duvet covers and pillowcases separately.
What if one mattress has an unusual depth?
Measure it with the bedding layers that sit beneath the fitted sheet and ask for a fit check. Do not order an extra-deep option solely because it sounds more flexible.
