How long does shipping take?
Orders typically arrive within 3–4 weeks from the order date. This includes handcrafting time at our Vietnam workshop and international shipping. We'll send you a tracking number as soon as your order is on its way.
Is linen fabric rough or stiff?
New linen may feel crisp at first — this is completely normal. It softens significantly after the first few washes and becomes one of the most comfortable fabrics you'll own. Pre-washing before use is recommended.
I'm buying from Vietnam — is that a concern?
Not at all. We're a Vietnam-based workshop using European flax linen and high quality blended linen and we ship internationally every week. All orders are carefully packed and tracked. If anything goes wrong in transit, we'll make it right.
Will the color fade over time?
Our fabrics are dyed for durability. Avoid bleach and harsh detergents to maintain color. Some natural softening of tone may occur over years of use, which is characteristic of quality linen.
Does linen wrinkle easily?
Yes and that's part of its charm. Linen's natural texture and relaxed wrinkles are a signature of the fabric. If you prefer a smoother look, iron while slightly damp on medium heat.
Can I return or exchange if the size doesn't fit?
Yes. We accept returns within 30 days for unused, unwashed items in original condition. Contact us at scandalinen@gmail.com and we'll guide you through the process.
Are your products safe for sensitive skin?
Yes. We use natural fibers free from harmful chemicals, gentle on all skin types including sensitive skin.
Do you offer gift packaging?
Yes, all orders are packed neatly and suitable for gifting.

Bring the Art of Hmong Batik Into Your Home
This Hmong Batik Pillow Cover transforms your living space into a gallery of ancient textile art. Each cover is hand-drawn with beeswax using traditional batik techniques and dyed with natural indigo by skilled Hmong artisans in the highlands of Northern Vietnam — making every piece a one-of-a-kind work of art that no factory could ever replicate.
The Art of Hmong Beeswax Batik:
Creating this pillow cover begins with a blank piece of handwoven brocade fabric. A Hmong artisan then uses a traditional canting tool — a small copper cup with a fine spout — to hand-draw intricate patterns with hot beeswax directly onto the fabric. Every line, curve, and geometric motif is drawn freehand from memory, guided by a lifetime of practice and a cultural vocabulary of patterns inherited from mother to daughter across generations.
Once the wax drawing is complete, the fabric is immersed in natural indigo vats. The waxed areas resist the dye, emerging as luminous white-on-blue patterns when the wax is carefully removed. The result is a stunning composition of traditional Hmong motifs — flowers, spirals, geometric forms, and ancestral symbols — rendered in the timeless palette of natural indigo.
Why This Pillow Cover is Extraordinary:
Cultural Significance:
Batik-making is considered a sacred art among Hmong communities, traditionally passed from mother to daughter as both a practical skill and a spiritual practice. The patterns drawn in beeswax are not decorative choices — they are a visual language, encoding stories, beliefs, and cultural identity into every line. Flowers represent fertility and growth, spirals symbolize the cosmos and life cycles, and geometric forms trace ancestral migration paths and spiritual cosmology.
Mastering Hmong batik can take years of dedicated practice. The artisans behind this pillow cover have spent their lives learning to draw these patterns with confidence and precision, guided by the memory of their mothers and grandmothers. By bringing this piece into your home, you're preserving an endangered cultural heritage and honoring the women who keep it alive.
Perfect For:
Bohemian and eclectic home decor, ethnic textile collectors, conscious home decorators, art lovers, sustainable living enthusiasts, fair-trade supporters, and anyone who wants their home to tell a story of culture, craft, and meaning.

Care Instructions:
Hand wash gently in cold water with mild soap. Air dry flat away from direct sunlight to preserve the natural indigo color. Do not wring or tumble dry. The batik pattern is permanent; the indigo will develop a beautiful, rich patina over time.
