Machine wash cold (30°C / 86°F) on a gentle cycle. Use mild, natural detergent avoid bleach and fabric softeners, which break down natural fibers over time. Tumble dry low or line dry in shade. Warm iron if needed. Wash separately for the first time to prevent color transfer.

How long does shipping take?
Orders typically arrive within 3–4 weeks from the order date. This includes handcrafting time at our Vietnam workshop and international shipping. We'll send you a tracking number as soon as your order is on its way.
Is linen fabric rough or stiff?
New linen may feel crisp at first — this is completely normal. It softens significantly after the first few washes and becomes one of the most comfortable fabrics you'll own. Pre-washing before use is recommended.
I'm buying from Vietnam — is that a concern?
Not at all. We're a Vietnam-based workshop using European flax linen and high quality blended linen and we ship internationally every week. All orders are carefully packed and tracked. If anything goes wrong in transit, we'll make it right.
Will the color fade over time?
Our fabrics are dyed for durability. Avoid bleach and harsh detergents to maintain color. Some natural softening of tone may occur over years of use, which is characteristic of quality linen.
Does linen wrinkle easily?
Yes and that's part of its charm. Linen's natural texture and relaxed wrinkles are a signature of the fabric. If you prefer a smoother look, iron while slightly damp on medium heat.
Can I return or exchange if the size doesn't fit?
Yes. We accept returns within 30 days for unused, unwashed items in original condition. Contact us at scandalinen@gmail.com and we'll guide you through the process.
Are your products safe for sensitive skin?
Yes. We use natural fibers free from harmful chemicals, gentle on all skin types including sensitive skin.
Do you offer gift packaging?
Yes, all orders are packed neatly and suitable for gifting.

Where Indigo Flows Free — The Art of Controlled Spontaneity
This Hmong Free-Form Splash Indigo Scarf is the most expressive and unpredictable piece in our artisan collection. Unlike structured geometric patterns, the free-form splash technique allows natural indigo to flow, bloom, and spread across the handwoven natural fiber brocade in organic, unrepeatable patterns — creating a wearable piece of abstract art that is as unique as a fingerprint.
The Philosophy of Free-Form Dyeing:
In Hmong textile philosophy, the free-form splash technique embodies a profound truth: that the most beautiful things emerge from the collaboration between human intention and natural forces. The artisan sets the stage — preparing the fabric, mixing the indigo, choosing the moment — but the dye writes its own story across the fibers, blooming and feathering in ways that cannot be predicted or controlled.
This approach requires a different kind of mastery than geometric precision: the ability to read the behavior of natural indigo in real time, to know when to intervene and when to let the dye flow freely, to recognize beauty in the unexpected. The artisans who create these scarves have spent years developing this intimate knowledge of indigo's living nature.
Why This Scarf is Extraordinary:
Cultural Significance:
The free-form approach to indigo dyeing reflects the Hmong philosophical understanding of the relationship between human beings and the natural world — not one of control and domination, but of collaboration and respect. The Hmong have always understood that nature has its own intelligence, its own patterns, its own beauty. The splash technique honors this understanding by giving the indigo freedom to express itself, resulting in patterns that are more beautiful precisely because they could not have been planned.
By wearing this scarf, you're carrying a piece of Hmong philosophical wisdom and preserving an endangered cultural heritage that celebrates the beauty of the unplanned.
How to Wear:
Perfect For:
Art lovers and collectors, conscious fashion advocates, lovers of abstract and organic aesthetics, bohemian style seekers, sustainable fashion supporters, and anyone who wants to wear a piece of art that exists nowhere else in the world.

Care Instructions:
Hand wash gently in cold water with mild soap. Wash separately for the first wash as natural indigo may release some dye. Air dry flat or hang away from direct sunlight. The indigo will deepen beautifully over time, and the organic splash pattern will develop a rich, lived-in character that makes your scarf more uniquely yours with every wear.
