Machine wash cold (30°C / 86°F) on a gentle cycle. Use mild, natural detergent avoid bleach and fabric softeners, which break down natural fibers over time. Tumble dry low or line dry in shade. Warm iron if needed. Wash separately for the first time to prevent color transfer.

How long does shipping take?
Orders typically arrive within 3–4 weeks from the order date. This includes handcrafting time at our Vietnam workshop and international shipping. We'll send you a tracking number as soon as your order is on its way.
Is linen fabric rough or stiff?
New linen may feel crisp at first — this is completely normal. It softens significantly after the first few washes and becomes one of the most comfortable fabrics you'll own. Pre-washing before use is recommended.
I'm buying from Vietnam — is that a concern?
Not at all. We're a Vietnam-based workshop using European flax linen and high quality blended linen and we ship internationally every week. All orders are carefully packed and tracked. If anything goes wrong in transit, we'll make it right.
Will the color fade over time?
Our fabrics are dyed for durability. Avoid bleach and harsh detergents to maintain color. Some natural softening of tone may occur over years of use, which is characteristic of quality linen.
Does linen wrinkle easily?
Yes and that's part of its charm. Linen's natural texture and relaxed wrinkles are a signature of the fabric. If you prefer a smoother look, iron while slightly damp on medium heat.
Can I return or exchange if the size doesn't fit?
Yes. We accept returns within 30 days for unused, unwashed items in original condition. Contact us at scandalinen@gmail.com and we'll guide you through the process.
Are your products safe for sensitive skin?
Yes. We use natural fibers free from harmful chemicals, gentle on all skin types including sensitive skin.
Do you offer gift packaging?
Yes, all orders are packed neatly and suitable for gifting.

The Complete Canvas — Hmong Batik at Its Most Immersive
This Hmong Full Batik Pillow Cover represents the most ambitious expression of traditional Hmong beeswax batik artistry — a pillow cover where every centimeter of the surface has been hand-drawn with beeswax before natural indigo dyeing. Unlike partial batik pieces, this cover leaves no space untouched: the artisan's hand has traveled across the entire fabric, filling it with an intricate, all-over composition of traditional Hmong motifs that creates an immersive, tapestry-like effect.
The Art of the Full Batik:
Creating a full-surface batik requires exceptional skill, patience, and stamina. A Hmong artisan uses a traditional canting tool — a small copper cup with a fine spout — to hand-draw hot beeswax across every part of the handwoven brocade fabric, working from memory without a template or guide. Every flower, spiral, geometric form, and ancestral symbol is drawn freehand, building a dense, layered composition that can take days to complete.
When the entire surface is waxed, the fabric is immersed in natural indigo vats. The waxed areas resist the dye, emerging as luminous cream-white patterns against the deep blue ground when the wax is carefully removed. The result is a full-surface composition of extraordinary density and beauty — a complete world of Hmong cultural imagery contained within a single 45x45cm cushion cover.
Why This Pillow Cover is Extraordinary:
Cultural Significance:
Full-surface batik is considered the highest form of Hmong textile art — a demonstration of complete mastery over both the canting tool and the cultural vocabulary of Hmong patterns. Only the most experienced artisans attempt full-surface batik, as it requires not just technical skill but the ability to compose an entire visual world from memory, maintaining balance and harmony across the whole surface without a single reference point.
The motifs that fill this pillow cover are drawn from the deepest layers of Hmong cultural memory: flowers representing fertility and the highland landscape, spirals encoding the cosmos and life cycles, geometric forms tracing ancestral migration paths, and sacred symbols believed to carry protective energy into the home. By choosing this piece, you're preserving an endangered cultural heritage at its most refined and demanding.
Perfect For:
Collectors of rare handmade textiles, ethnic art enthusiasts, lovers of intricate pattern and surface design, conscious home decorators, art lovers who appreciate maximum artisan effort, fair-trade supporters, and anyone who wants the most immersive expression of Hmong batik artistry in their home.

Care Instructions:
Hand wash gently in cold water with mild soap. Air dry flat away from direct sunlight to preserve the natural indigo and batik patterns. Do not wring or tumble dry. The natural indigo will develop a beautiful rich patina over time, and the full batik patterns will remain crisp and striking with proper care.
